SYNTAX ERROR

"SYNTAX ERROR" is a video art project that plays on the intersection of language, history, and digital media, intertwining elements of interactivity, typographic animation, and philosophical musings. It is inspired by an image that has been mistakenly interpreted as the last photograph of the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. The piece is designed to be interactive; as viewers move their cursor over words, narrators pronounce the letters, creating a soundscape that is both textual and auditory. The project takes its conceptual drive from a quote attributed to Nietzsche, "I have tried to remain faithful to the text," which intermittently appears throughout the video. This reference acts as a thematic anchor, questioning the fidelity of representation and interpretation in the digital age. The stills from the video exhibit grainy monochromatic textures, evoking the era of Nietzsche's lifetime, and are punctuated by floating typographic elements that invite the audience to engage with the underlying text. The project as a whole offers a reflective experience, melding the visual, the verbal, and the philosophical into a cohesive digital artwork.
